- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- For the dough:.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in the dry ingredients.
- Form the dough into 1 inch balls. Place on a greased baking sheet and flatten.
- For the topping:.
- Combine the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle
- the top of the cookie before baking.
- Bake 8 minutes or until cooked through.

- Mix 11/2 cups sugar, margarine, cream cheese and eggs in a bowl. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
- Cover and refrigerate dough for one hour.
- Shape dough into 11/4 inch balls. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon. Roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Flatten each ball with the bottom of a drinking glass.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool.

I can't believe in all the Snickerdoodle recipes listed here this one isn't among them. This is the best. Every time I take these somewhere, people declare these are the best snickerdoodles they have ever had! I think the trick is to not over bake...bake until just starting to crack on top!

- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Stir together flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt.
- Beat butter for 30 seconds.
- Add the 2 cups sugar and beat until fluffy.
- Add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well.
- Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating until well blended.
- Form dough into 1-inch (or larger) balls - dough will be sticky.
- Roll in mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
- Place 2-inches apart on greased cooked sheet.
- Flatten slightly with bottom of a glass.
- Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes until light golden and just beginning to crack on top.
