Steps:
- Spread Nutella on 2 bread slices. Top with cheese, then close up sandwiches with 2 remaining bread slices.
- Heat 1 Tbsp. butter in a large skillet over medium until melted. Cook sandwiches, turning once and adding remaining 1 Tbsp. butter halfway through, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted, 4-6 minutes.

- Lightly spread butter on the outsides of two slices of bread.
- Spread Nutella on the inside and sandwich together.
- Grill 2 mins per side.
- Slice in half
- Serve warm.
NUTELLA SANDWICH COOKIES
Steps:
- Line two large baking trays with baking parchment. Put 175g spread in a large bowl with the flour and egg and work the mixture together with a wooden spoon to make a dough. Add a few drops of water if the dough feels a little dry.
- Tip on to a work surface and divide dough into 24 equal pieces and roll into balls. Arrange on the prepared tray and space apart. Press balls down lightly with the palm of your hand to flatten slightly and chill for 1hr or until firm. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) mark 4.
- Bake for 15min, or until the cookies are dry to the touch and feel firm around the edges. Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool completely.
- Using 1/2tsp Nutella, sandwich together two cookies at the bases. Repeat with the remaining cookies.

This is from Everyday Italian Giada De Laurentiis's first cookbook. I made these for a sleepover as a snack. The recipe does not call for butter to grille the bread, I did put a light coating of butter on the bread. I'm sure you can do it either way.
