2 Tbsp. Nutella
4 slices white sandwich bread
1/2 cup shredded mild cheddar, Monterey Jack, or mozzarella cheese
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, divided

Steps:

  • Spread Nutella on 2 bread slices. Top with cheese, then close up sandwiches with 2 remaining bread slices.
  • Heat 1 Tbsp. butter in a large skillet over medium until melted. Cook sandwiches, turning once and adding remaining 1 Tbsp. butter halfway through, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted, 4-6 minutes.

Nutella Sandwich Cookies : Simply stir together 3 ingredients to make these super easy cookies.

175 g Nutella, plus extra to sandwich
150 g plain flour
1 medium egg

Steps:

  • Line two large baking trays with baking parchment. Put 175g spread in a large bowl with the flour and egg and work the mixture together with a wooden spoon to make a dough. Add a few drops of water if the dough feels a little dry.
  • Tip on to a work surface and divide dough into 24 equal pieces and roll into balls. Arrange on the prepared tray and space apart. Press balls down lightly with the palm of your hand to flatten slightly and chill for 1hr or until firm. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) mark 4.
  • Bake for 15min, or until the cookies are dry to the touch and feel firm around the edges. Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool completely.
  • Using 1/2tsp Nutella, sandwich together two cookies at the bases. Repeat with the remaining cookies.

This is from Everyday Italian Giada De Laurentiis's first cookbook. I made these for a sleepover as a snack. The recipe does not call for butter to grille the bread, I did put a light coating of butter on the bread. I'm sure you can do it either way.

Steps:

  • Preheat a griddle or a ridged grille pan over a medium heat.
  • Grill the bread until toasted 2 minutes per side.
  • Spread the Nutella over one piece of grilled bread and top with second piece of toast.
  • The directions do not state to add butter to grille the bread but I did put a thin layer of butter on the bread to grille it.

  • Spread 1 tablespoon chocolate-hazelnut spread onto one side of each of 2 slices cinnamon bread; top each with another bread slice to make 2 sandwiches.
  • Beat milk, egg, and vanilla extract together in a shallow bowl until smooth. Soak each sandwich in the milk mixture until the bread is moistened, about 15 seconds per side.
  • Prepare a nonstick pan with cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat.
  • Cook sandwiches in the hot pan until browned on the bottom, about 2 minutes. Flip sandwiches and continue cooking until other side is browned, about 1 minute more.
